Joint Degree Program
The Joint Degree Program is a credit-sharing arrangement that allows qualified students to combine their legal studies with graduate work, resulting in two degrees earned in a reduced amount of time. Candidates must apply for and gain admission to both the Levin College of Law and the MS Sport Management program.
Deadlines and Getting Started
Spring 2026 Admission:
- May 1, 2025 for international students
- October 1, 2025 for US residents
Fall 2026 Admission:
- December 1, 2025 for international students
- March 1, 2026 for US residents
Late applications may still be considered for review depending on program availability. Admission decisions will be released by late April for fall applicants who apply by the deadline and November for spring applicants. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
The following admission requirements are for applicants applying for terms starting on or after July 1, 2020.
- A recognized baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
- For applicants with a bachelor’s degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester in which the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours.
- The Master’s Program in Sport Management does not require the GRE/GMAT examination test scores as part of the application process for both thesis and non-thesis tracks.
- For applicants from countries where English is not the official language, UF requires proficiency in spoken and written English and accepts the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
- Minimum scores acceptable for admissions are:
- TOEFL: 550 (paper test); 80 (internet based)
- IELTS: 6.5
- International applicants are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if enrolled for one academic year in a degree-seeking program at a recognized/regionally accredited university or college in a country where English is the official language prior to your anticipated term of enrollment at UF, or if you are from one of the countries exempt from English proficiency.
- Minimum scores acceptable for admissions are:
- Satisfactory conduct record
- Proof of medical immunization for the residential program.
- If you have already attended the UF Graduate School but were not enrolled for three or more consecutive terms, which includes summer sessions, you must apply for readmission.
Applications are evaluated individually by a faculty review committee. Admission to the program will be based upon the following criteria:
- Undergraduate grade point average,
- TOEFL/IELTS score (if applicable)
- Three letters of recommendation
- Personal statement that explains the purpose for graduate study, your degree goals and reasons for selecting sport management as the field of study.
- Compatibility of applicant’s education, experience and research interest with the mission of the program
A sport management interest questionnaire will be emailed to the applicant once an application has been submitted. Any specific questions regarding the application process should be directed to the graduate coordinator via email.
Submit an online application which includes:
- Statement of Purpose
- Transcripts:
- Include unofficial transcripts from each postsecondary institution attended.
- If offered admission, arrange to have official transcripts sent to the UF Office of Admissions from each postsecondary institution attended by either: 1) sending electronic transcripts from your institution directly to UF, which can save up to two weeks’ response time. UF accepts electronic transcripts through FASTER, Parchment, National Student Clearing House, ScribbleSoft, e-Scrip Safe, Credential Solutions, SCOIR or Transcripts Plus, or 2) Mailing original transcripts to Graduate Admissions located at 201 Criser Hall, PO Box 114000, Gainesville FL 32611-400.
- If you attended UF as your postsecondary institution, you do not have to order a transcript from the Office of the University Registrar.
- International applicants must submit official transcripts, mark sheets and examination certificates in the native language for all secondary and/or postsecondary coursework, along with certified, literal English translations for documents not originally issued in English.
- Test Scores for TOEFL or IELTS (if applicable):
- Arrange to have the testing facility send official test scores to institutional code 5812.
- TOEFL scores are only valid for two years from date they were taken.
- Letters of Recommendation (three required):
- The department prefers that at least two of these letters of recommendation come from academic sources. The third letter can be from someone known to you in a professional or academic capacity.
- Letters can be submitted electronically through the online application (preferred) or mailed directly to the department.
- Résumé or Curriculum Vitae:
- Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires inclusion of all post-high school education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding.
- Please ensure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé.
To expedite your application process, email unofficial copies of application items (e.g. unofficial transcripts, letters of recommendation, GRE scores) as attachments to the graduate program assistant.
Stipend and tuition support are not provided to students enrolled in the MS degree program. For more information on federal, state and university aid programs and a limited number of privately funded scholarships, view types of aid.

Health Insurance
All entering students are required to purchase the University’s Student Health Insurance Plan, unless proof of comparable coverage is provided. Students are required to show proof of adequate health insurance as a condition of enrollment. Proof of Immunization
The University of Florida, in compliance with Florida Statute (1006.69) and Florida Administrative Code (6C-6.001-5), requires that all new students show proof of the immunization prior to registering for classes. A University of Florida immunization form must be completed and returned to the University’s Student Health Care Center prior to registration.
Students will not be allowed to register without proof of immunization. The University of Florida will accept State of Florida immunization records issued by local health departments and doctor’s offices. Get additional information and download the immunization form.
