Biography
Laura Barnes is the Industry Advisory Board Liaison for the College of Health & Human Performance. In her role, she works with key leadership in all departments to identify segments of industry that relate to their programs, then works to find industry leaders to serve on Advisory Boards for each department.
Laura is a graduate of UF with a master’s degree in Sport Management, where she specialized in Athlete Development. During her master’s program, she served as a Graduate Assistant, supporting multiple faculty members and students.
In her previous role with the university, she worked with UF Online to identify and cultivate relationships with pro sport leagues, creating opportunities for professional athletes to complete their undergraduate degrees. She also supported the Sport Management department as a Career Coach, supporting students in developing the skills and confidence required to undertake the job search process as they approach graduation.
Outside of her formal education at UF, Laura has pursued training and development in areas including Emotional Intelligence, Leadership Development and Public Speaking. Laura grew up in the mountains of Colorado and lived in the Denver area for over a decade before relocating to Gainesville.
