Finances are a concern for many students and their families. A variety of types of assistance are available including federal loans, work-study positions, scholarships, fellowships, graduate study research assistantships, full-time and temporary employment, and private sources. The Office for Student Financial Affairs at the University of Florida provides information about how to apply for financial aid at UF, deadlines and financial aid programs.
Scholarships
The college awards over $50,000 in scholarships annually to both undergraduates and graduates, in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,000. Scholarship applications are accepted during the spring semester and funds are disbursed in the fall. Students are eligible to apply for up to three scholarships, with a maximum of one scholarship awarded per student. Any incomplete, late and/or handwritten applications will not be processed.

Grinter Fellowship
This fellowship is named in honor of Dr. Linton E. Grinter, Dean of the Graduate School from 1952–1969. The Grinter Fellowship recruits new, truly exceptional Doctor of Philosophy or Master of Fine Arts students to UF.
McKnight Doctoral Fellowships
Funded by the Florida Education Fund (FEF), the McKnight Doctoral Fellowships are for African-American students who are newly admitted to select Ph.D. degree programs at universities in the state. It aims to retain faculty in the state of Florida.
Federal Loans
Filling out the FAFSA is the first step in receiving federal student aid. Loans are borrowed funds which must be repaid with interest after you are no longer a student. Review details about loans programs available at UF.
