Info For…
Freshman admissions are administered through the UF Office of Admissions. If you are a prospective student in high school who has not applied, please review undergraduate student admissions process.
If you have recently been accepted as a freshman to UF, congratulations! We encourage you to explore our website if you haven’t done so already and to deep-dive into the academics section to learn about all the varied programs our college has to offer.
Contact an Academic Advisor with specific questions related to your major of interest.
For application information, transfer students should refer to the admission as a transfer section of the UF Undergraduate Catalog. Within space and fiscal limitations, applicants from other institutions who have satisfied minimum requirements will be considered for admission at the junior level.
For a student to be considered as a change of major, the following criteria must be met accordingly:
Lower Division Students
- Minimum UF GPA
- Minimum UT GPA as designated by the Department curriculum
- No deficit points
- Must have the ability to complete all tracking requirements by the required UT term (based on desired major)
- Completion of the Change of Major form
Upper Division Students
- Minimum UF GPA
- Minimum universal tracking (UT) GPA as designated by the Department curriculum
- No deficit points
- Must be able to complete degree within 132 hours or 8 semesters (not including summer) without exceeding the maximum credit hours per semester. (Excludes AP/IB courses not needed for HHP degree program)
- Must have completed 75% of universal tracking courses for desired major
- Must have all writing and math requirements met
- Must have a minimum of 27 hours of General Education requirements met
- Completion of the Change of Major form
Additional Notes:
- Students admitted to UF as transfers are not able to change majors into the College.
- Current HHP students may not change into another HHP major unless they currently meet the major’s criteria.
- Students who were dismissed from a college major cannot change out of HHP and then be accepted back into the College as a change of major.
Admissions requirements for online, degree-seeking students vary somewhat depending where you are in your academic journey. For general admissions information, visit UF Online.
Review detailed information about HHP online degree programs:
Following UF policy, HHP limits post-baccalaureate students to the following criteria:
- Certificate program/state licensure
- Teacher Certification
- Prerequisites for graduate study
- Distance Learning
In addition, any student wishing to apply under the “prerequisites for graduate study” will be required to apply to the department to which they plan to apply and not the department that offers the course they wish to complete. For example: A student wishing to apply to the physical therapy graduate program, and who needs anatomy and physiology as prerequisites should apply to the College of Public Health and Health Professions as a post-baccalaureate.
Eligibility
Non-degree enrollment in the fall and spring semester is restricted to participants in special programs (including Employee Education Program and State Agency fee waivers), off-campus programs, university-affiliated exchange programs and high school/college dual enrollment.
During summer semesters non-degree status may be approved under the following conditions:
- If you are a UF employee
- If you are currently in good standing at another four-year institution
This program is for former degree-seeking students “who wish to return to the University after an absence of no fewer than five calendar years.” During this absence the student should have engaged predominately in nonacademic activities. Students wishing to apply under the Fresh Start Program should follow UF guidelines.
Students are also required to complete the College’s Letter of Intent.
Readmission applies to students who have previously attended UF as degree seeking students and wish to return to complete their Bachelor’s degree. Former undergraduate students who do not enroll at the University for two consecutive terms, including any summer term, must apply for readmission.
Readmission to the College of Health & Human Performance is not guaranteed. If you are considering readmission to the College, please review the readmission eligibility requirements.
Readmission — Above a 2.0 UF GPA
If you left HHP on track for your major and are reapplying to the same major without having earned any additional credits at another institution, follow the readmission process outlined on the Admissions website. If a student is on track and in good standing before the absence of two or more terms, and reapplies to the same major, then readmission is generally granted.
Contact an HHP academic advisor before applying for readmission if any of the following apply:
- If you have taken credits at another institution
- If you plan to reapply for a different major within HHP
- If you left UF with any incomplete grades
- If you were off track in your major and wish to reapply to the same major.
Students readmitted to HHP who have been away from UF for longer than one calendar year will be readmitted under the catalog in effect at the time of readmission.
Readmission — Below a 2.0 UF GPA
Please contact an HHP academic advisor to discuss the likelihood of readmission to the major you desire prior to starting the readmission process. If there were any documented extenuating circumstances that affected your academic performance while at UF, you are encouraged to review the University Petition process in an effort to potentially improve your chances for readmission by reducing your deficit record.
If you left UF with 15 or fewer deficit points and have not taken additional coursework since you left UF, HHP will work with you on a case-by-case basis. However, be aware that taking classes elsewhere after leaving UF with a deficit record could jeopardize consideration for readmission since these grades do not count toward your UF GPA.
- If you earn an AA degree from a Florida community college after leaving UF with a deficit record, you will not be eligible for readmission.
- If you left UF with 15 or fewer deficit points (in your overall UF or upper division GPA) but were in your junior or senior year, your chances of readmission are reduced.
- If you left UF more than 15 deficit points (in your overall UF or upper division GPA), please refer to the other “Readmission – Dismissed Students” information.
For readmission process, review the readmission guidelines.
Readmission — Dismissed Students
Students who were dismissed from the University of Florida with more than 15 deficit points are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The College of Health & Human Performance does not readmit students who have been dismissed and have subsequently earned an AA degree at another institution; or students who have been dismissed after having already been readmitted once. If you fall into any of the categories above, you will need to consider other academic options (at other institutions).
If you have greater than 15 deficit points, your application will be reviewed by an academic advisor. Upon review of your application, you may be contacted by the advisor to discuss your academic plan. Your advisor will develop a readmission contract that will specify GPA and course requirements.
The contract will be reviewed by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. If approved, you will be monitored every semester while on contract. Students must meet all contract conditions to be eligible to continue in HHP.
- Students with more than 20 deficit points (overall or upper division) will not be readmitted
- Students who are deficit must be able to realistically remove ALL deficit points within 2 semesters (summers included) (i.e. 20 credits with minimum grades of A is not realistic)
- If applying to online programs, all general education and prerequisites must be completed (due to lack of online offerings)
UF Employees
The College of Health & Human Performance follows the University’s Employee Educational Program (EEP) policies. Full-time state employees who have been admitted to a degree or non-degree seeking status are eligible for a fee waiver of up to six credit hours of UF courses per semester.
