Wellness in Sport, and Wellness Through Sport

This unique program prepares future professionals to support the mental, physical and social well-being of athletes and sport participants. Designed for those interested in using sport as a tool for individual and community health, the certificate offers an applied, sport-focused approach to health promotion and wellness.

Why Choose this Certificate?

The sports, health and wellness fields are expanding with increasing opportunities to influence the lives of athletes and communities through physical activity and sport. This industry has significant social impact, as sport is often used by communities and organizations to promote broader health and wellness outcomes.

Today’s athletes face heightened demands on and off the field, including physical, mental and social health pressures. This certificate trains students to recognize and respond to these unique challenges, helping them to support athlete well-being holistically.

This certificate is open to all UF undergraduate students, but is especially suited for those who:

  • Want to use sport and physical activity to promote wellness in individuals and communities.
  • Are passionate about the holistic development and well-being of athletes, whether they’re elite athletes or recreational participants.
