Evangelos Christou Named National Academy of Kinesiology Fellow

Evangelos Christou, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology, has been honored as a Fellow in the National Academy of Kinesiology.

Dr. Christou’s research, which focuses on human movement control, primarily in older adults with and without neurological disorders, is funded from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 2004. He is also an associate editor for the Journal of Human Kinetics and Frontiers in Exercise Physiology and an ad-hoc reviewer for more than 30 journals including JAMA Neurology, PNAS, Movement Disorders and Journal of Neuroscience.

Dr. Christou has served as a grant reviewer for the NIH in various study sections (MFSR, MRS and CNN) and has been named the 2018 University of Florida Doctoral Dissertation Mentor of the Year.

The Academy of Kinesiology encourages and promotes the study and educational applications of the art and science of human movement and physical activity. The academy honors individuals who have contributed significantly to the study of and application of the art and science of human movement and physical activity.
