A Note from the Dean
Summer 2025
This past May, we celebrated the achievements of 560+ students who graduated with HHP degrees. Their success at UF demonstrates the passion and perseverance that has always typified our college. We are proud to welcome our newest graduates into the growing ranks of HHP alumni who enrich the broader Gator Nation.
As we turn the page to a new academic year, I am excited to welcome a record-breaking number of students into our college. Each will enroll in a degree program led by exceptional faculty who shape the future of their disciplines through groundbreaking research and instructional excellence. I’m especially excited about online certificate programs that will debut this fall. These create novel opportunities for mid-career professionals to expand their skill sets and position themselves as leaders in their respective industries.
In this issue, you’ll read about the Florida Gym’s fascinating history over the past 75 years, including its pivotal role in women’s athletics – becoming home to the university’s first varsity women’s basketball team 50 years ago. You’ll also read about exciting research emerging from our popular study abroad programs and gain insight into the topic of name, image and likeness, or NIL. Plus, you’ll learn more about where fellow alumni are today and how their time at HHP shaped their careers and lives.
As we gear up for the 2025-2026 academic year, I invite you to stop by the college – whether you’re dropping off your children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, or simply visiting to cheer on the Gators in the Swamp. Thank you for everything you do to keep the Gator spirit alive and thriving!
